Dover Park Hospice's 2016 Outreach Program hopes to convey its values and programs to deliver its brand belief: Every Moment Matters. DPH needs to find a message the public can connect with, to participate to make every moment matter for the patients towards the final stage of their lives.
21 Grams is inspired by an experiment conducted by Dr Duncan MacDougall in 1901, where he attempted to measure the mass change of 6 patients at the moment of death. His first subject lost "three-fourths of an ounce", of which he felt it being the most accurate result.
Using the weight of 21g, I aim to portray it as a significance of loss - death. I have also designed a 21g pouch for my audience to interact with, and therefore let them feel the weight of loss, possibly holding onto their lost loved one - who isn't here anymore.
